홍이현숙

대한민국 경상북도 점촌 산골마을 출생이며 대학에서는 조각을 전공했지만 영상설치, 퍼포먼스 사진 등의 미디어를 쓴다. 현재 경기도와 서울을 오가며 작업하고 있다..‘동물이 나를 비춘다’라는 의미의 동물권 세미나 모임인 ‘ALiM;’의 회원이다. 잘 안 보이는 것들, 사이에 있는 것들, 혹은 보려 하지 않는 것들을 드러내고자 하는 ‘은닉된 에너지전’(1995, 미술회관) 시리즈로 시작하여 장소와 몸(사람, 동물, 사물)을 유비하는 설치작업(국립극장계단 1997, 인사동 육교 2000, 통일전망대 2002,)을 하였다. 2005년, 대안공간 풀에서의 개인전부터, 영상작업을 통해 작가자신의 몸이 어떤 특정한 장소, 특정한 시간과 직접 만나는 풍경을 그리기 시작하였다. 2012년에 《폐경의례》(복합문화공간 에무), 2019년에《한낮의 승가사》(공간일리) 2021년에 《휭추-푸》(아르코 미술관, 2021)등 개인전을 하였고 국내 및 해외에서 다수의 단체전에 참여했다. 2015년 양평공공미술프로젝트 <실신프로젝트 남양광하> 총감독을 역임했고, 《가상의 딸》(2004~6)등 다수의 전시를 기획한 바 있다. 일상적 수행과 수련을 통해서 길어 올린, 추상으로 인간이라고 하는 주류의 존재에서 탈 중심화해보려 한다. 냄새와 소리와 진동 그것들을 타고 넘으며 어떤 순간의 비약적인 체험을 통해서 인간과 비인간의 경계를 넘어선, 공감각의 장소를 만들고자 한다. 결국 목격할 것이고 같이 존재할 것이고 그래서 넘나들게 될 것이다.

Hong Lee, Hyunsook

Hong Lee, Hyun-Sook was born in a mountain village in Jeomchon, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea. Although she majored in sculpture in college, she uses various media such as video installation, performance, and photography. Currently, she works between Gyeonggi-do and Seoul She is a member of ‘ALiM;’, an animal rights seminar group meaning ‘animals reflect on me’. Beginning with the 'Concealed Energy Exhibition' (1995, Art Center) series, which seeks to reveal things that are difficult to see, things in between, or things that you do not want to see, installation works that analogize places and bodies (people, animals, objects) ( Stairs of the National Theater 1997, Insa-dong Pedestrian Bridge 2000, Unification Observatory 2002,). In 2005, from the solo exhibition at the alternative space Pool, I began to draw landscapes in which my body directly meets a specific place and time through video work. In 2012, I had her own solo exhibitions such as 《The Ritual of Menopause》 (complex cultural space Emu), 《Seunggasa at Midday》 (Space Illi) in 2019, 《Swoosh, Tsu-pu》 (Arko Art Museum, 2021) in 2021. Participated in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad. In 2015, I served as the general director of the Yangpyeong public art project <The Silsin Project, Namyang Gwangha>. My works are in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Art, Gyeonggi Museum of Art and Suwon Museum of Art. I try to decentralize from the mainstream existence of human beings with abstractions raised through daily practice and training. I want to create a place of synesthesia that transcends the boundary between humans and non-humans through the rapid experience of a certain moment, riding over smells, sounds, and vibrations. In the end, you will witness it, you will exist together, and you will come and go.
